Pink Magnolia

Please let me start with how amazing Blythe Beck is. She is a true example of a Boss Lady ! Blythe is not only the owner but also the chef she is literally on the line giving it her all. I was nervous to meet her but her personality drifted all of my fears away. She is sweet and spontaneous lady and may I mention she is an UNT alumni which is the school that I attend now.

The menu is full of creative names and recipes. I was intrigued by the “Hoestacks” until the waitress informed us about the chicken biscuits made with homemade cheese biscuits ! This chicken biscuit was everything I could’ve dreamed of.

I loved my experience at Pink Magnolia and thank you Chef Blythe !

La Calle Doce

If you don’t know Oak Cliff holds some of the best restaurants. La Calle Doce is located in the Bishop Arts District which is a sight to see within its self.

La Calle Doce is a Mexican restaurant with a seafood twist. Walking in I had no idea what  I would eat due to the fact Mexican food and seafood is a weird mix. While looking over the menu I came across the California Tacos. The California Tacos consist of: shrimp, Spanish style coleslaw, chipotle ranch, a slice of avocado, rice and black bean relish as a side.

Unfortunately these tacos were not as good as I expected, but on the other hand I tasted some of my sister’s snapper fish and it was so delicious with plenty of flavor.

I will recommend this restaurant just to get a new experience and location in Dallas other than going downtown .

Angry Dog

Girl vs Food…

IMG_7012.JPG

I have never been in a situation were food was a challenge for me!

But the hot dog I had was truly an ANGRY DOG.

img_7054

Most restaurants do not offer hot dogs let alone chili dogs on the menu so believe me I was ecstatic to see that option! WAIT, I forgot to mention how much I love HOT DOGS, its one of my top 5 favorite foods (yes I do know what hot dogs are made of ).

When I told the server I wanted a THE hot dog he asked me, “do I want to add bacon on top and jalapenos on the side?” I gazed at him because that is everything up my alley!

  • time: This was the first restaurant I did not have to wait 30 min or more for my food. It came out at perfect timing, soon as I returned from the ladies room my food was waiting on me and not vis versa.

  • preparation : the presentation of the food was set up very nicely. Due to the fact it was a chilli dog I was expecting something a little more all over the place.

  • Taste: The hot dog was more than what I expected. The fact that hot dogs are so simple this dog in particular was beyond simple. I wont to also talk about the fries, even though they were not as seasoned the still had to freshest taste to them.IT WAS WEARID.

  • atmosphere: This was not my favorite atmosphere only because the tables were fairly close and I like to be personable with the person I came out to eat with, not the random person next to me.

ANGRY DOGS is located in Deep Ellum , Dallas Tx

This place is really a SECRET/ whole in the wall! To get to this pizza place you have to already know the location! When you get to the location you have to ask an employee for directions!  Y’all know I LOVE PIZZA , so it took me no time to find the location!!

sn: feta on pizza is A1

Gino’s East Pizza

This company originally started in Chicago, Chicago is where I wanted to try this restaurant but once I found out it was one located in Dallas, I had to have it.

My boyfriend and I went on a regular weekday night. When we went there it was a wait but for some odd reason it was a wait but there was still open seats that we could have been sat at. While waiting I looked over the menu so I could be prepared to tell the server. The first thing I notice was the small print which stated ” deep dish pizza will be an hour wait”. Which totally blew my high! Once the server came over he told us up front that it would be an hour for the deep dish pizza to be ready !

To our dismay we waited a legit hour…..

It was defiantly worth the wait, omg when I say it was so good I can taste it all over again while writing  this blog! The crust was so good, it was fluffy and had the perfect crust. The cheese was cheesy greatness! I couldn’t stand it, it was so good! The sauce was rich and the meat was fresh.

Like I mention you will wait a legit hour even on a none busy night ! If you do not mind to wait then ago ahead . This place defiantly gets a thumbs up.

Mattito’s

image
The car has my name on it!

I originally wanted to go to Mattito’s for Brunch or Happy Hr but I had another doctors appointment which started at 10 a.m. & had me out by lunch time. I stopped by because it was close and my sister & I was craving Mexican food!

Rumba Rita (Ignore the snapchat txt)

I got their infamous Rumba Rita cocktail for my drink. The limit was two so I’m guessing it’s a strong drink. It was good but didn’t taste that strong. Maybe it’s a sneak up drink.

image

I ordered off the lunch menu, which luckily
had fajitas on it! I got beef fajitas and believe me they were seasoned to perfection ! Omg sooo good! The meat was not dried  out or anything!

I’m definitely going back for brunch or happy hr!

Sissy’s Southern Kitchen

Sissy’s with my Sissy

image

I have so much to say about Sissy’s Southern Kitchen. Let’s start with the hospitality, soon as I walked in the host and PR/Restaurant director greeted me with such enthusiasm. They made me feel like I’ve been knowing them for a long time. Next the waitress was very well spoken and eloquent.

If you know me or have read my past post, you know I always get “chicken & waffles” so this day I decided to get “chicken & waffles”.
Soon as I bit into the chicken it taste just like someone’s grandmother would make w/ a hint of heaven ! Now I’m not to big on waffles I’m more of a pancake person. With that being said, the pancakes were not all that.(but it wasn’t them it’s me)
Of coarse I had to get a Mamosa I like how they gave me a choice of pineapple or orange juice!

I highly recommend this place especially for brunch or just for some Deep South home cooking!

Truck Yard

image

This place seriously made me feel like I walked into a backyard party! My boyfriend and I went on a Wednesday night and it was packed. I wonder how it looks on a Friday or Saturday night. With that being said, the atmosphere was lively & great to be in.

image

The drinks were over priced Especially for the sizes!! I got the drink that sounded most “different” which was the “frozen trash can punch”it was $6.83 for this size ….

image

After a Drink I sent my boyfriend for food and he came back with this….

imageAnd omg it was so good! It was like a Philly cheese steak setup. It came with steak, cheese, and jalapeños!

The Truck Yard also had frozen custard ! So why not try it right?!?!

imageThis is a “Tricked up” ice cream cone called “Sojourner” it had brownie pieces, Oreo crumbs, and Carmel ! Yum yum!

i seriously can not wait to go back to the Truck Yard! Who wants to join me?
